Marines place wreath at grave site of 3rd Commandant on 237th Marine Corps' birthday, Nov. 10

NEW YORK -- Lt. Col. Richard Bordonaro, 6th Communication Battalion, commanding officer, takes a moment of silence in front of Lt. Col. Franklin Wharton's grave. Bordonaro and his Marines placed a wreath to pay tribute to Wharton on the 237th Birthday of the Marine Corps, Nov. 10, 2012. Wharton was the 3rd Commandant of the Marine Corps. He served from 1798 to 1818 and was the first Commandant to occupy the Commandant's House, Marine Barracks, Washington.
